Lab alum Chloé Schmidt wins the 2024 Dobzhansky Prize!

We are all VERY happy to see Chloé recognized with the Dozhansky Prize for her excellent body of work building and leading the field macrogenetics and championing the conservation of genetic diversity. From the SSE website: "The Dobzhansky Prize is awarded annually by the Society for the Study of Evolution to recognize the accomplishments and future promise of an outstanding early-career evolutionary biologist". Very well deserved with lots more exciting science in the pipeline!

Congratulations to the 2024 Dobzhansky Prize winner, Dr. Chloé Schmidt! Dr. Schmidt is a Senior Scientist at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig. Her research seeks to link microevolutionary processes acting on populations with broader macroecological patterns. She focuses on macrogenetics, the biogeography of genetic diversity, urban evolution, and conservation. In addition to her original research, Dr. Schmidt is a science communicator and illustrator. Dr. Schmidt will present the joint Dobzhansky Prize talk at the in-person portion of the Evolution meeting in Montreal in July.
