Busy term! In January, Chloe, Riikka, and I (Colin) all traveled to San Francisco to present at the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology meeting. We also owe a big congrats to Evan Balzer who defended his honours thesis on narwhal population genetics in the eastern Canadian Arctic. He's off to Laurentian to start an MSc with David Lesbarrères this fall. We had Grace (Dinghan) Ji both start and finish her first computer science coop work-term. She developed a tool for us to efficiently format archived population genetic data sets for comparative population genetic analyses. Finally, we hit on some collaborative research grants with Ken Jeffries and Margaret Docker. Watch for sea lamprey research and associated research positions.
